Saprobic water classification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010517
A system for categorizing the quality of freshwaters based on the biological communities present, particularly the abundance of saprobic organisms. This classification reflects the degree of organic pollution and the associated oxygen levels in the water. It typically ranges from oligosaprobic (very low pollution) to polysaprobic (heavily polluted), providing an ecological assessment of water quality.
