Clarke-Glew equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002096

A semi-empirical fitting function for how the standard Gibbs energy of solution varies with temperature, expressed as a series of terms in the ratio of a reference temperature to T, in the natural logarithm of T over that reference, and in rising powers of the T to reference ratio. Its fitted coefficients correspond to changes in enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity on dissolution, though they are statistically correlated with one another. Fitting it smooths measured gas solubilities in water and in other liquids.
