Cladogram

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002095

A branching diagram used in cladistics to illustrate hypothetical evolutionary relationships among groups of organisms. Each branch point, or node, represents a hypothetical common ancestor, and the branches extend to descendant groups. The arrangement of branches reflects the relative recency of common ancestry, not the degree of morphological similarity.
