Phylogenetics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008947
The study of the evolutionary history and relationships among individuals or groups of organisms, such as species or populations. It uses morphological data, biochemical information, and genetic sequences to infer these relationships and construct phylogenetic trees (cladograms). This field is distinct from systematics, which also involves the classification and naming of organisms.
