Bidentate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001211
Describing a ligand that possesses two donor atoms capable of simultaneously forming coordinate bonds to a single central metal atom or ion. This dual attachment creates a chelate ring structure, which generally enhances the stability of the resulting coordination complex. Examples include ethylenediamine and oxalate, which each have two sites for binding.
