Carbamates
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001619
Organic compounds derived from carbamic acid (H2NCOOH), characterized by the functional group R2N-COOR'. They are esters of carbamic acid, where one or both hydrogen atoms on the nitrogen may be substituted by alkyl or aryl groups. Carbamates are widely used in polymers, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides, with urethanes being a prominent class of polymeric carbamates.
