Peak area
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008561
The integrated signal intensity of a chromatographic peak or spectral band, representing the total amount of the analyte that passed through the detector or absorbed/emitted radiation. This value is proportional to the concentration of the substance responsible for the peak. It is a fundamental quantitative measure in many analytical techniques, such as gas chromatography and liquid chromatography.
