Photoelectric attenuation coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008850

A measure of the probability that a photon will undergo a photoelectric effect interaction per unit path length in a material. This coefficient quantifies the reduction in the intensity of a photon beam due to the absorption of photons by atomic electrons, leading to their ejection. It is a component of the total attenuation coefficient for electromagnetic radiation passing through matter.
