Photo-elastic polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008849

A polymer that exhibits birefringence when subjected to mechanical stress, meaning its refractive index changes in response to applied forces. This property allows for the visualization of stress distributions within the material using polarized light. Photo-elastic polymers are used in stress analysis and optical applications.
