Residue

A specified substance, including any of its metabolites, degradation products, or reaction products, that remains in or on a commodity intended for human or animal consumption following its use. This applies to pesticides, veterinary drugs, or contaminants present in food, animal feed, or environmental samples. Regulatory bodies establish Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs), which are the highest legally tolerated levels of a specific residue in or on food or feed commodities.
