Temporary maximum residue limit

A provisional maximum concentration of a pesticide residue or other chemical contaminant legally permitted in or on food or feed commodities. This limit is set when full toxicological data or residue data are not yet available to establish a permanent maximum residue limit. It is typically based on short-term studies and includes a larger safety margin than a permanent limit.
