Estimated maximum daily intake
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004105
A forecast of the largest daily intake of a pesticide residue or other potentially harmful agent, computed from average food consumption per person and the maximum residue levels expected in the edible portion of each commodity, adjusted for changes of the residue during processing or cooking. Because it assumes every commodity carries the maximum residue, it overestimates typical intake. It is expressed per kilogram of body weight per day for comparison with the acceptable daily intake.
