Residue

The remaining portion of an estate after all specific gifts, debts, taxes, and administrative costs have been settled. This encompasses any assets not explicitly distributed through specific bequests in a will. The residue is then passed to the designated residuary beneficiaries or, in the absence of a will, according to intestacy laws.
