Residuary estate

The portion of a deceased person's estate that remains after all specific bequests, debts, taxes, and administrative expenses have been paid. This remaining property is then distributed to the residuary beneficiaries named in the will. If there is no will, the residuary estate passes to the legal heirs according to the laws of intestacy.
