Noggin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007986
A secreted protein that functions as an antagonist to bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). By binding directly to BMPs, noggin prevents them from binding to their receptors, thereby inhibiting their signaling pathways. This protein is expressed in the Spemann organizer and is involved in the development of the nervous system, skeleton, and other tissues.
