Chordin

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002025

A secreted protein that functions as an antagonist of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling during embryonic development. It binds directly to BMPs, preventing them from interacting with their receptors and thereby promoting dorsal rather than ventral development. Chordin is a key signaling molecule involved in patterning the dorsal-ventral axis of the embryo.
