Time-of-flight mass spectrometer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012071
A type of mass spectrometer that separates ions based on their mass-to-charge ratio by measuring the time it takes for them to travel a fixed distance in a vacuum. Ions are accelerated to the same kinetic energy, so lighter ions travel faster and arrive at the detector earlier than heavier ions. This technique is known for its high speed and sensitivity.
