Time-lag focusing
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013657
A technique used in time-of-flight mass spectrometry to improve mass resolution by compensating for the initial kinetic energy distribution of ions. It involves introducing a time delay between ion formation and their acceleration into the flight tube, allowing faster ions to travel further before the accelerating field is applied. This method is also known as delayed extraction and is implemented by pulsing the accelerating potential.
