Thermal lag
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011947
The delay in temperature response of a material or a sensor relative to a change in the surrounding environment. This phenomenon occurs due to the finite rate of heat transfer within the material and its thermal inertia. It is quantified by the time difference between the onset of a temperature change and the point at which the material or sensor reaches a certain percentage of the new temperature.
