Potentiometric gas sensor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009326

A device that measures the concentration of a specific gas by monitoring a change in electrical potential across an electrochemical cell. The sensor typically incorporates a solid electrolyte and two electrodes, one of which is exposed to the gas being measured. The potential difference generated is logarithmically related to the partial pressure of the target gas, as described by the Nernst equation.
