Inductively-coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005802

An analytical technique that employs an inductively-coupled plasma to excite atoms and ions in a sample, causing them to emit characteristic electromagnetic radiation. The emitted light is then dispersed by a spectrometer and detected, allowing for qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis. This method offers high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range for many elements.
