Glow-discharge optical emission spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004923

An analytical technique used for elemental analysis of solid samples, particularly for depth profiling and surface characterization. It employs a glow discharge to atomize and excite sample material, and the emitted light from the excited atoms is then analyzed by an optical spectrometer. This method provides quantitative elemental composition as a function of depth into the sample.
