Inductively-coupled plasma robustness

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005803

A measure of the insensitivity of an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) to changes in the sample matrix, particularly concerning the excitation and ionization conditions. A robust plasma maintains consistent analytical performance, such as signal intensity and spectral interferences, even with varying sample compositions. This characteristic is often assessed by monitoring the ratio of emission intensities from atomic and ionic species.
