Inductively-coupled plasma thermal pinch
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005805
A decrease in the volume of an inductively coupled plasma, normally caused when a volatile organic solution is delivered to it. The organic vapours diffuse toward the outermost region of the plasma, so the plasma contracts and can withdraw from the injector tip. Raising the methanol content of a nebulized sample, for example, makes the plasma visibly shrink.
