Preheating inductively-coupled plasma zone
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009386
The initial region of an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) torch where the incoming sample aerosol and argon gas are heated by conduction and radiation from the hotter plasma downstream. In this zone, the sample aerosol is desolvated, and the resulting solid particles begin to vaporize before they enter the hotter, more energetic regions of the plasma. The temperature in this zone is typically in the range of 3000 to 4000 Kelvin.
