Hollow-cathode discharge source
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005339
A type of glow discharge source where the cathode is constructed as a hollow cylinder or cup, which confines the plasma within its interior. This configuration enhances the sputtering of cathode material and the excitation of analyte atoms, leading to intense atomic emission. It is frequently used in atomic absorption and atomic emission spectroscopy for generating narrow spectral lines.
