Hollow fibre
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005338
A semi-permeable membrane in the form of a fine tube, with a diameter typically ranging from tens to hundreds of micrometers. It is used in separation processes such as ultrafiltration, microfiltration, and gas separation, where the feed stream flows through the lumen or around the exterior. These fibers provide a high surface area to volume ratio for efficient mass transfer.
