Thin film format
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012000
A format of solid-phase microextraction in which the sorbent is a thin film, either coated on a flat support or self-supported as a membrane, rather than a coating on a fibre. The film gives a large ratio of sorbent surface area to volume, so extraction proceeds faster than with a fibre coating of the same sorbent volume. Analytes are afterwards desorbed thermally or with a small volume of solvent.
