Film element
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004422
A small homogeneous part of a thin liquid film or similar film, chosen to include the two interfaces that bound it and any fluid lying between them. It is a slice through the full thickness of the film with a small lateral area, which is why it differs from a layer in a multilayer coating, where each layer is a separate material in a stack.
