Polymer fibre
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009172
A continuous filament or staple of polymeric material characterized by a high length-to-diameter ratio and sufficient strength and flexibility for textile or composite applications. These are produced by spinning processes, where a polymer melt or solution is extruded through a spinneret and then drawn to align the polymer chains. Common examples include polyester, nylon, and polypropylene fibers.
