Polymer fibril
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009173
A thread-like crystalline or semicrystalline polymer structure with a high aspect ratio, where the polymer chains are largely oriented along the fibril axis. These structures form during polymer processing, such as drawing or extrusion, or during crystallization from solution or melt. Polymer fibrils contribute significantly to the mechanical properties of materials like synthetic fibers and biological tissues.
