Chain axis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001831
An imaginary line that represents the general direction of the backbone of a polymer chain, particularly in ordered or crystalline regions. This axis is often used to describe the orientation of polymer molecules within a solid material. In highly oriented polymers, the chain axis aligns with the direction of stretching or processing.
