Lamellar crystal
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006429
A crystalline polymer morphology consisting of thin, flat platelets, or lamellae, with a uniform thickness. Within each lamella, the polymer chains are folded back and forth upon themselves, with the chain axes oriented approximately perpendicular to the lamellar surface. The thickness of these crystals is on the order of 10 to 20 nanometers, while their lateral dimensions are much larger.
