Solidification model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010997
A picture of a semicrystalline polymer that crystallizes from the melt as lamellae, with one macromolecule placing some of its stems in one crystal and others in different crystals, so a single chain links separate lamellae. Molecules bridging crystals in this way are the tie molecules. The model differs from the switchboard picture, in which all crystallized stems of a chain belong to the same crystal.
