Delocalization of electrons

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002977

The phenomenon where electrons are not confined to a single atom or bond but are distributed over multiple atoms or across an extended region within a molecule or material. This allows for enhanced electronic conductivity and unique optical properties in conjugated polymers. The extent of delocalization influences the band gap and absorption characteristics.
