Polyvinylenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009260
Polymers characterized by a backbone consisting of alternating single and double carbon-carbon bonds, forming a conjugated system. This extended conjugation allows for delocalization of electrons along the polymer chain, leading to semiconducting or conducting properties upon doping. Polyvinylenes, such as polyacetylene, are a class of intrinsically conducting polymers with applications in organic electronics and sensors.
