Delocalization energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002976
The additional stabilization energy gained by a molecule due to the delocalization of its electrons, compared to a hypothetical structure where electrons are localized in discrete bonds. This energy is a measure of aromaticity or resonance stabilization. It is typically calculated using quantum mechanical methods, such as Hückel molecular orbital theory.
