Resonance integral

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010251

A parameter in molecular orbital theory that describes the interaction energy between two atomic orbitals on adjacent atoms. It quantifies the stabilization achieved when electrons are delocalized over multiple atoms. This integral is a negative quantity, with a larger absolute value indicating stronger bonding interaction.
