Cyclodextrins

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002821

Cyclic oligosaccharides composed of glucopyranose units linked by alpha-1,4 glycosidic bonds, forming a truncated cone shape with a hydrophobic interior and a hydrophilic exterior. These molecules are capable of forming inclusion complexes with guest molecules within their cavity. Alpha-, beta-, and gamma-cyclodextrins contain six, seven, and eight glucose units, respectively.
