Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007742
A prefix indicating a factor of 10^-9, used in the International System of Units (SI) to denote a submultiple of a base unit. For example, a nanometer (nm) is one billionth of a meter, and a nanosecond (ns) is one billionth of a second. This prefix is frequently applied in fields such as nanotechnology and materials science to describe dimensions at the atomic and molecular scale.
