Cyclization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002817
A chemical reaction that forms a ring of atoms from one or more reactant molecules containing open-chain structures. The process can be intramolecular, where a single molecule forms a ring, or intermolecular, where two or more molecules join to create the cyclic product. Pericyclic reactions, such as the Diels-Alder reaction, are a specific class of concerted cyclization processes.
