Photocyclization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008837
A photochemical reaction in which a molecule undergoes an intramolecular cyclization, forming a new ring structure. This process is initiated by the absorption of light, leading to an excited electronic state that facilitates bond formation. An example is the Norrish-Yang reaction, which forms cyclic alcohols from ketones.
