Baldwin's rules
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001103
A set of empirical rules used to predict the favorability of intramolecular ring-forming reactions in organic chemistry. These rules classify cyclization reactions based on the size of the ring formed, the hybridization of the atom undergoing attack, and whether the bond being broken is inside or outside the ring. They distinguish between 'favored' and 'disfavored' pathways.
