Dauben-Salem-Turro rules

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002871

A set of empirical rules used in photochemistry to predict the preferred reaction pathways for excited states of organic molecules, particularly in pericyclic reactions. These rules consider the electronic configuration of the excited state and the symmetry of the orbitals involved. They provide a qualitative framework for understanding the outcomes of photochemical transformations.
