Annulation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000626

A chemical reaction that leads to the formation of a new ring system directly attached to an existing molecule. This process effectively expands the molecular framework by adding a cyclic structure. It is a fundamental transformation in organic chemistry for synthesizing polycyclic compounds, including natural products.
