Polycyclic macromolecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009124
A macromolecule whose structure includes more than one macrocycle, each of which shares at least one atom with another macrocycle, as in figure-eight and theta-shaped cyclic topologies. Two rings with no atom in common, such as the two benzene rings of biphenyl, do not make a molecule polycyclic in this strict sense, although general usage often calls such molecules polycyclic.
