Annelation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000624
A chemical reaction that results in the formation of a new ring system fused to an existing molecule. This process increases the number of rings in a polycyclic compound. It is a common strategy in organic synthesis for constructing complex molecular architectures, such as steroids or alkaloids.
