Retro Diels-Alder reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010301
A unimolecular fragmentation reaction in mass spectrometry where a cyclic molecule undergoes a reverse Diels-Alder cycloaddition, breaking into two smaller, unsaturated fragments. This reaction is often observed in the mass spectra of cyclic compounds, particularly cyclohexenes. It is a concerted pericyclic reaction that follows specific mechanistic rules.
