Chemical warfare

The use of toxic chemical substances as weapons in armed conflict to cause death, injury, temporary incapacitation, or sensory irritation. These agents are designed to overcome protective measures and inflict casualties over a wide area. The Chemical Weapons Convention prohibits the development, production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons.
