Vesicant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013689
A chemical agent that induces severe irritation and blistering on exposed surfaces of the body, including the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. These substances cause tissue damage by forming large, fluid-filled blisters upon contact, leading to pain and inflammation. Chemical warfare agents like sulfur mustards (e.g., bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide) and nitrogen mustards are prominent examples of vesicants.
